About

One national home for energy training, research and advisory

Training, research, academic publishing and advisory — on one platform

Who we are

Why the academy exists

The Iraq Energy Academy was established as the national home for energy-sector capability: a single institution that brings together accredited professional training, applied research, peer-reviewed publishing and technical advisory — instead of leaving these functions scattered across separate bodies.

We work with ministries, national operating companies, Iraqi universities and international organisations to close the gap between the competencies the sector actually needs and what existing qualification programmes produce. Programmes are designed from operational need, measured against verifiable outcomes, and documented with auditable digital certificates.

Our scope runs from petroleum and chemical engineering, through renewable energy and energy efficiency, to environment and sustainability, artificial intelligence and the digital transformation of the energy system.

Vision

To be Iraq's foremost national reference and a trusted regional partner in qualifying energy professionals and producing the applied knowledge that informs national energy decisions.

Mission

To develop the competencies of Iraq's energy sector through accredited training, applied research and independent advisory, and to build an open Iraqi knowledge base serving policymakers, industry and the academic community.

Strategic objectives

Six objectives that set our priorities

01

Qualify national talent

Prepare engineers, technicians and managers whose skills match modern energy technology and international safety and quality standards.

02

Research that informs decisions

Direct research effort at real operational and policy problems, and put the findings in the hands of the bodies that need them.

03

Technology & knowledge transfer

Build bridges to global centres of expertise, transferring best practice and localising it for Iraqi conditions.

04

Support the energy transition

Equip the sector to manage energy efficiency, renewables and emissions reduction with tools that can actually be applied.

05

Digital transformation

Embed data analytics and artificial intelligence into operations, maintenance and planning across the energy system.

06

Durable institutional partnerships

Sign — and genuinely activate — memoranda with universities, oil companies and international organisations through joint programmes.

Values

The principles that govern how we work, not how we present

Integrity & independence

Technical judgement grounded in evidence, free of commercial pressure or narrow interest.

Quality & accreditation

Every programme passes academic and professional review before it is accredited and certified.

Measurable impact

We judge ourselves by changed performance in the field, not by headcount in the room.

Openness & transparency

Methods and data open to review; research findings published rather than withheld.

Sustainability

Environmental and social dimensions are built into every programme and study we produce.

Equity of access

Access to training is a professional right; we work to widen it geographically and demographically.
